About the Artist
Hi! I’m Sam!

I’ve been the art kid as far back as I can remember. I started fine art classes when I was in second grade and the creative genes seemed to come naturally to me.
I was also the type of kid who grew up playing outside making mud pies and frolicking through the woods, finding worms in the ground and salamanders in the pond.
It’s no great surprise that my creative and natural sides seem to have merged into what it is now, where I am creating art with bugs, flowers and bones! (Though I do still love to draw and paint from time to time.)
In the spring of 2022, I began working with insects and bones to preserve their beauty and give them a second life. In this process I must rehydrate the insects to pin their wings open and wait for them to dry again. Then I arrange them into thrifted containers, terrariums and frames for us to admire and enjoy for years to come, along with dried flowers and moss, and the occasional bone or stone.
I am officially a full-time artist, as of February 2025! And I am so thrilled to explore what I can grow into going forward.
All bugs and bones are sustainably sourced. Bugs are usually sourced and purchased from butterfly farms or gifted to me by friends who found them after they have expired. Bones are sourced and purchased from taxidermists or found in nature, previously passed away.
